WHAT TO EXPECT

WHY NOT ADD

CHOOSING YOUR TICKETS
WANT YOUR OWN ALPACA?
Choose Adult with an Alpaca (£30) or Child with an Alpaca (£25). Children aged 8–15 can walk an alpaca but must be accompanied by a supervising adult.

SHARING AN ALPACA?
One adult and one child can share an alpaca for £35, or take advantage of our Family of 4 offer for £65.

COMING ALONG WITHOUT AN ANIMAL?
Adults can join the trek without leading an animal for £15, and children for £10. This is ideal for parents or family members accompanying alpaca walkers.

PREFER A DONKEY?
Choose Donkey Walker (£25). Donkey walkers must be aged 12+.
Please note: Our donkeys tend to walk at a slightly slower pace than our alpacas. If your group books a mixture of alpaca and donkey walking tickets, you may become separated at points during the trek as the animals walk at their own pace.

MEET OUR WALK LEADERS

PASSIONATE ABOUT OUR ANIMALS & OUR MOOR

Our Walk Leaders aren't simply guides – they're an important part of the Wetley Moor family.
All Walk Leaders complete formal training in animal handling, welfare and husbandry alongside First Aid training. Their ongoing practical training means our team are actively involved in the everyday care, health and wellbeing of the animals they walk.
Several of our team live around Wetley Moor themselves and love sharing their knowledge of its wildlife, landscape and changing seasons with our guests.
TREKKING THAT WORKS FOR YOU
We know that one experience doesn't suit everyone.
If you or someone in your group has additional needs, please contact us before booking. Wherever possible, we'll adapt the experience to help you enjoy Wetley Moor.
We can offer private sessions at no additional cost for guests who may find a busy group overwhelming, adapt the length of a trek for those with reduced mobility, and use an alternative wheelchair-friendly route where required.
For guests who would prefer not to trek across the moor, our Alpaca & Donkey Meet & Greet takes place at the farm and offers a more accessible way to get up close with our animals.

MORE THAN JUST A WALK
Wetley Moor is at the heart of our trekking experience.
Our Walk Leaders love sharing the landscape they call home, from the changing colours of the heather to the wildlife we encounter along the way. Depending on the day, guests may spot buzzards, kestrels, sparrowhawks, pheasants, rabbits and other local wildlife.
We're proud to enjoy the moor responsibly. Our team and volunteers collect litter while out walking, encourage guests to stick to appropriate routes and keep watch for signs of smoke or fire during periods of high wildfire risk.

BEFORE YOUR TREK
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Our treks take place across natural moorland and can get muddy! Please wear weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear. Complimentary wellies are available to borrow if needed.
HOW DIFFICULT IS THE WALK?
Our standard trek lasts around 45–75 minutes across uneven moorland with gentle slopes and potentially muddy or boggy ground. A reasonable level of mobility is required, but the pace is relaxed and led by our animals.
WHAT HAPPENS IF THE WEATHER IS BAD?
We trek in most weather, so waterproofs are always useful! If conditions mean we cannot run the experience safely or comfortably, we'll contact you and offer an alternative date.
CAN I BRING MY DOG?
Unfortunately, dogs cannot join our treks as unfamiliar dogs can unsettle our animals. If you require an assistance dog, please contact us before visiting so we can discuss your requirements.
ARE THERE TOILETS ON SITE?
Yes, toilet and handwashing facilities are available at the farm.
